Yolanda Lindsay Mabuto(13F:1988), daughter of Bright and Catherine was born and raised in Gweru (Zimbabwe). She attended junior school at Midlands Christian. Besides her academic achievements she took part in netball, school plays, ballet and choir. She then continued with her secondary level education at Arundel School in Harare where she began to focus on her love for science and her love for singing- joined the cultural choir, junior choir and senior choir.
At the age of 16 she had the opportunity to work for a few weeks at Dr. Mukori's Surgery (Gweru). It was at this point that the hands on experience confirmed her love for medicine. After finishing her secondary level education in November 2006, she left Zimbabwe in January 2007 for The Netherlands (Middelburg) to pursue her interest in medicine at Roosevelt Academy. At this university she studied a 3year pre-medical programme combined with a minor in Psychology attaining a Bachelor of Science Honours. In addition, she obtained a certificate in First Aid (Diploma Eerste Hulp) and in her final year volunteered to teach English at an asylum centre in Middelburg (AZC). After graduation she joined the Prescription Drug Rating and Experience Program[PPREP] Internship and became a drug intern and obtained her certificate of completion(2010). September 2010 she furthered her studies at the Universiteit van Amsterdam (Netherlands) studying Biomedical Science (MSc) which included an internship at the amsterdam hospital, Academisch Medisch Centrum.
Yolanda hopes to one day pursue a career in the medical field and this journey will begin when she commences medical school in her home country.

Poetry Journey
Yolanda began writing poetry as early as 1997. After joining Young Writers at the age of 16 her first poem titled "A love story" was published (2005). Her second poem titled "I have a dream" was published in 2006 in an anthology titled "from Around the World Volume 11." This poem was selected in June 2008 for a runner up prize in the "I have a dream" edition competition in which she featured.
Over 600 schools and in excess of 21,000 pupils competed for prizes in that competition.
Yolanda continued to write and has currently been published in 12 anthologies by Forward Press ( Peterborough ), Applaud Africa magazine (Kenya), Zai magazine (Nigeria), Sentinel Literary Quarterly (London), Istanbul Literary Review (Turkey), Ghanaian Book Review (Ghana), Lagos Literary and Arts Journal (nigeria), Klorofyl Magazine (Nigeria), Saraba Magazine (Nigeria), Sentinel Nigeria, JAF Magazine pinboard, The African Bulletin (Netherlands), Prosopisia A.R.A.W.LII (India),
The NewBlack Magazine (England), YourMagazine as well as The Brown Critique. Her poem "Mother Africa" was a one star finalist in the Voicenet's Poetry competition 2010.
She also holds 3 certificates of Poetry writing distinction awarded by Young Writers Forward Press and is also a member of the World Poets Society. Her writing is inspired by the life of others as well as her own and it reflects the artistic craft of life's pain and joy.
She is also interested in prose (short dramatic stories) and children stories and will continue to broaden her writing interests as far as her wings will allow.
January 2011 she founded and created the label Y'POETRY co-managed by ROGUE VENTURE PLANNING (Tawanda Gora- Strategy Adviser ). Y'POETRY explores poetry and art and currently has its first Giftcard Collection consisting of 7unique designs.
